Adrià is a remote sensing specialist with experience in machine learning. His knowledge about statistics and skills in language programming has been valuable for designing efficient algorithms in various remote sensing applications. Adrià is also proficient in big data processing and planetary-scale analysis. He uses satellite and geospatial data in cloud-based platforms (such as Google Earth Engine), for large-scale analysis of land surface phenology estimation and land cover classification. He has worked as a research consultant for several institutions such as the Joint Research Center (JRC) and University of Cambridge. Recent projects include mapping of oil palm and coconut plantations globally and the development of burned area detection algorithms over Indonesia and Siberia. Adrià obtained a PhD in Terrestrial Ecology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
