 This study published in Plos One reveals that oil palm plantations doubled in size, reaching 16.24 million hectares in 2019. Industrial plantations had a larger impact than smallholder ones, and forest loss correlated with palm oil prices.

  This study published in ESSD introduces a new approach using Sentinel-2 satellite analysis to estimate burned areas in Indonesia. The findings reveal that  3.11 million hectares burned in 2019, highlighting the accuracy and significance of the new dataset for monitoring and carbon-emission calculations.
